Yes, it is possible to replace a fluorescent bulb with an LED. The way this is done depends on what kind of fluorescent bulb you are using. We make a distinction between conventional fluorescent bulbs and high-frequency fluorescent lighting.
- Conventional fluorescent tubes need a starter. This starter provides ignition voltage. Naturally, this isn’t necessary for LEDs, so the ignition voltage is superfluous. If you want to replace a traditional fluorescent bulb with an LED, then you must install a dummy starter or bypass the standard starter manually.
- High-frequency fluorescent bulbs (HF TL) can also be replaced with LED-TL.
Please note that you need specific bulbs that can handle the high-frequency electronic ballasts!
